WeavingI have textiles, and specifically cotton, in my genes. My mother, her parents, her brothers and sister and her grandparents had all worked in the textile mills in North and South Carolina. My mother worked as a winder, my grandmother was a spinner and my grandfather worked in the carding room of the mill. While working on my genealogy I discovered a Scottish ancestor and this started my study of tartan weaving. I have demonstrated at several Scottish festivals and do tartan weaving on a custom order basis. I am a life-long resident of Indiana and have lived in Brown County for the last 19 years. Shortly after we moved to Brown County my mother-in-law asked if I would be interested in learning to weave. A trip to her home in Michigan resulted her giving me in two looms, some yarns and some books on weaving. Since that time I have worked at my craft and have won several awards for my weaving.
