Americana and Primitive Painting

Amanda has lived in Brown County for over 35 years. She is married to a "native" Brown Countian. The acreage that Amanda's home and studio sits on is fast becoming a "family compound." The acreage has been in the Mathis family for several generations. Amanda feels that this setting is very inspirational, not only personally and spiritually but for her art as well.

Amanda's painting style has been labeled "primitive," and she has become known as Brown County's resident primitive painter. Amanda paints scenes of Brown County and beyond, adding memory, imagination and humor to each painting.

Scattered around her property are roses, annuals, native grasses, perennial and wildflower gardens.
