Wood with glass and paperI have always enjoyed working with my hands for as long as I can remember. My first "practical" effort was a collaboration with one of my brothers; we got some oak wine barrels from a local winery and made swinging chairs out of them. Local hardwoods-cherry, maple, walnut, elm, white oak, and sassafras are the woods I use these days for benches, tables, clocks, and for what I call "illuminations." Illuminations are creations of wood, art glass, or handmade natural paper shades usually dimmer controlled. Some are made to read by while others are designed to add unique colors and ambiance to a space. They come in all shapes and sizes but my favorites are the tall floor illuminations. Our family garden is one of the love's of my wife Marilynn's life. It lays upon a sunny ridgetop surrounded by 250 thriving blueberry bushes. We supply my daughter Erika"s catering business, "FEAST" with berries. When in full bloom our garden has rows of flowers, kale, squash, all kinds of peppers, tomatoes and tomatillas, garlic and more. The garden is a huge circle divided into nine triangular segments. When the weather allows, our hilltop family meets in the center on Sunday mornings for coffee.
